Who is Gufrau

Gufrau is a Prague rap trio of childhood friends from Holešovice. It is made up of rappers H4GO (Hugo Wiesner) and Moneyossel (Vojtěch Pravda) and producer and DJ Kubmat (Jakub Maťko); both rappers study at FAMU, the Prague film school. The project started while they were still students. They shared their first tracks – back then as the members' solo projects – on YouTube from 2020, and debuted as a group in 2022 with the record Vltavská filharmonie. In 2024 came the album Holešovice, named after the neighbourhood where they grew up.

Their sound mixes rap with EDM, electro, techno and jazz, and their lyrics alternate irony with Gen Z topics, from nightlife to housing and relationships. They joke that they aren't rappers, but can't sing either; Headliner compared them to a Backstreet Boys for Gen Z. They work closely with Victor Kal, with whom they released the EP Nožičky and the record Boyband (2025), and with Mat213, with whom they recorded the joint EP Gufrau213.

Their breakthrough was the single “Navždycky blázen” with Victor Kal and Rohony from October 2025, which ruled the Czech streaming charts for about three weeks. At the 2025 Anděl Awards, Gufrau and Victor Kal received the most nominations of anyone and won in the Song of the Year category.
