Who is Paulie Garand

Paulie Garand, real name Pavel Harant, was born in 1987 in Liberec, the city his work is closely tied to. He entered the scene with the demo Mozoly (2006) and formed the duo BPM (Básníci před mikrofonem – “Poets at the Mic”) with Lipo, whose albums Slova (2007) and Horizonty (2009) were built on poetic lyrics; Horizonty won an Anděl Award. When the members of BPM went their own solo ways, he moved to the label Ty Nikdy, whose crew album Akta X (2018) also took home an Anděl.

He made his solo debut with the album Harant (2010), followed by V hlavní roli (2012), Nirvana (2017) and Amonit (2022). He has a long-standing collaboration with producer Kenny Rough, with whom he released the records Molo (2014), Boomerang (2015), DANK (2018) and Molo II (2024). His work is often described as lyrical indie rap with both introspective and social themes. He is also active in film, and in 2013 he founded the clothing brand Garand Brand.

In July 2025, together with Kenny Rough and Jakub Děkan, he created the FC Slovan Liberec anthem “Modrobílá krev”, which plays before home games at Stadion U Nisy. In February 2026 he celebrated twenty years on the scene with a sold-out concert at Forum Karlín, and that same year he founded the label Corso Records. He performed at The Culture in Liberec in 2026.
