Who is Rest

Rest came up through the freestyle and battle scene. He was born in Slovakia but has lived in Prague since childhood. He started listening to rap at thirteen; from around 2003 he was part of the group Divnej Postoy and racked up battle wins, and in 2008 he also conquered the Slovak Art Attack Freestyle Battle.

Since 2010 he has been a member of the Ty Nikdy label, alongside Idea, Paulie Garand, Kenny Rough and MC Gey. In 2010 he released the album Premiéra with producer DJ Fatte, featuring the hits “Balkónovka” and “Panáky na zem”, which launched his solo career, and with Fatte he also made the follow-up Střepy (2013). After a longer break, during which he mostly guested on other artists' records, came the more personal album Restart (2018). In 2022 he released the record Tlak, nominated for an Anděl Award, and in 2024 the album A)TÝM with Kato from Prago Union, which both of them describe as pure hip hop.

He says he writes intuitively – whenever something in a beat strikes a chord with him. In interviews he also talks openly about harder times, such as his problems with alcohol around the middle of the last decade or his relationship with his father. In 2026 he appeared in the fifth series of the reality show Survivor Česko & Slovensko.
