Who is Smack One

Smack One, for a long time known mainly as Smack, is Prague MC, DJ and producer Jakub Janeček. He brought grime into Czech music – by his own account he recorded the first Czech grime track in 2006 – and made his name with the Iscream Boyz crew and on the Iscream Show on Rádio Spin. He founded the label Archetyp 51, through which Dollar Prync from Smíchov, among others, made it onto the scene.

After a run of mixtapes he released the studio albums 2051 (2012), P's A Love (2014), Sick (2015), Terapie (2017), P's A Love 2 (2019) and the Chimera trilogy (2020–2021). P's A Love, Sick and Chimera Pt. 3: Snake each won him an Anděl Award in the hip hop & rap category. He has long collaborated with British MCs such as P Money, Bru-C and Milli Major, and has performed on BBC 1Xtra and at the London event Eskimo Dance.

In September 2024 he surprised everyone by announcing the end of his rap career – the genre's clichés bothered him and he wanted to focus more on grime as electronic music. He closed the chapter with a concert at Prague's Výstaviště, but he didn't stop making music: out came the joint project Champions League with P Money, the EP Dangerous Team with Milli Major and, in June 2026, an album simply titled Smack One, which he presents as a new beginning on the border between grime and rock.
