Who is Sofian Medjmedj

Sofian Medjmedj is a Prague singer and lyricist, born in 2001 to an Algerian father and a Czech mother. As a child he played the violin and was into dance and parkour; by his own account, it was Justin Bieber's 2016 concert at Prague's O2 arena that steered him towards a professional music career. The breakthrough came a year later, when he won a Vodafone music competition whose prize was a collaboration with Ben Cristovao – resulting in the successful song TV Shows.

After his first solo single, Čekám na zázrak (2018), he released the albums 19 (2021) and Project | 23 (2023), featuring guests including Ewa Farná, Adam Mišík, Hasan and Mirai Navrátil. His duet Slzy with Ben Cristovao earned him Anděl Award nominations. 2024 brought the EP Portimão and the Discovery of the Year title in the Český slavík poll. In 2025 he then released two joint albums with Cristovao, Khaosan and Denpasar; their song Dlouhá noc was again nominated for an Anděl.

Sofian's music blends pop and R&B with elements of rap. He has also worked with ATMO music, Orion and Paulie Garand, and guested on rapper Calin's song Pistácie, which became the most-played track of 2025 on Czech Spotify.
