Who is Kryštof

Kryštof is one of the most decorated Czech bands, with more than ten Anděl Awards to its name. The group was founded in Havířov in the first half of the 1990s by Richard Krajčo, Nikolaj Arichtev, Jaroslav Blahut, Biser Arichtev and Pavel Studník; Krajčo has been its voice and frontman from the start. The debut album Magnetické pole (2001) was followed by a string of hits – Obchodník s deštěm, Atentát from the film Bobule, and Cesta, which the band recorded with Tomáš Klus.

Kryštof won the Anděl for Band of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2012, and its other statuettes include awards for the albums Mikrokosmos, Rubikon and Inzerát. In the Český slavík poll the band won the Band category in 2013. The album Srdcebeat (2015) went six times platinum, and in 2017 the band played a concert at Strahov Stadium, later released as a live album and DVD. Kryštof's sound combines pop-rock with a horn section – saxophone and trumpet.

The band isn't afraid to cross over into rap either: in 2026 it released the single Moviestars with Ostrava rapper Sergei Barracuda. The song heralded the album Půlnoční hřích, recorded in part at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in England and at the Daft Music studio in Belgium, with Honza Balcárek producing.
