Who is Xindl X

Xindl X is the stage name of Prague singer-songwriter and screenwriter Ondřej Ládek (born 1979). He entered the scene by winning the competition Česko hledá písničku (2007), and a year later he won the Autorská Porta. In 2008 his song Anděl was the most-played track on the Bandzone site, and his debut album Návod ke čtení manuálu earned him an Anděl Award nomination.

Next came the records Praxe relativity (2010), with the duet Láska v housce with Olga Lounová; Láska (2012); Čecháček Made (2014), with the songs V blbým věku and Cudzinka v tvojej zemi; Kvadratura záchranného kruhu (2016); Sexy Exity (2018); Terapie (2021); and Fén X (2024). In the Český slavík poll he won the Riser of the Year award. Musically he moves between pop, folk and blues, and in concert he plays both solo with a guitar and with a backing band.

Since 2014 he has been making the show Xindloviny for Hitrádio, in which he writes songs responding to current events. Under his own name he writes scripts – he came up with the story for the film Restart and co-wrote the series Comeback – and he composes music for the theatre, for example for the musical Cyrano! Cyrano! Cyrano! at Divadlo na Vinohradech. In 2019 he appeared on the dance competition StarDance.
